This
is a Moroccan city located on the Atlantic coast 508 km south of
Casablanca, 173 km of Essaouira, and via the A7 motorway at 235 km west
of Marrakech, in the region of Sousse. Agadir is the capital of the administrative region Sousse -Massa- Draa and seat Agadir Ida Outanane Prefecture .It is also one of the main urban centers of Morocco , seventh agglomeration of the country after Casablanca , Rabat, Fez , Marrakech , Meknes and Tangier. The population density is quite high . Three languages are spoken in the city : Arabic (mainly Darija , the Moroccan Arabic dialect ) ; the tachelhit (or Berber) and French .
The city of Agadir is a very recent appearance in town . Almost entirely destroyed by an earthquake in February 1960, the city was rebuilt in a modern city plan . The old Agadir, there are only the ruins of the Kasbah .The destruction of Agadir is a shock to the whole Morocco . The words of the late Mohammed V mark the beginning of a national challenge : " If fate decided the destruction of Agadir, its rebuilding depends on our faith and our will." Inducted a year later , the young king Hassan II demonstrated the same determination as his father and Agadir rising from the ashes two years later
Now it is the second largest tourist city in the kingdom . It is now the largest seaside resort in Morocco where tourists and foreign residents come many attracted by an exceptionally mild climate throughout the year ( benefits from 300 days of sunshine per year). Its coast is sandy 10 km long . Agadir is a vibrant city during the summer season, the rest of the time it is a quiet town .Today , Agadir is a new and modern city. The avenues are wide, the gardens are in bloom , the port is huge and amazing airport. Spaciousness and modernity that the West will not disappoint . Obviously , the architecture is somewhat uniform and only a few buildings stand out. We may mention the main station , the court or the Town Hall.
Its beautiful beach , its hotels and its famous night clubs are one of the most famous resorts in the world . The " cluber " athlete through the vacationer who wants to improve his
tan, all adore Agadir for its mild climate and the quality of its
facilities.Finally, lovers will appreciate the botanical garden and the garden of Portugal Ibn Zaidoun . Those who prefer art and culture will enjoy the museum Amazigh heritage. Note also the "valley of birds " , a remarkable zoo located in the center of Agadir. There are birds from around the world thrive in their natural habitats , restored successfully.
